From the f-collective:
This year for International Women’s Day 2012 we are holding a community picnic in First Fleet Park on March 10 at 12pm.
After last year’s great success we wanted to have a new format and focus for the 101st IWD. The theme for this year is Re-generation: Shaping our Feminist Future. We are focused on getting the community together with a special emphasis on the next generation of feminists. As such the speakers and performers at the event will all be young women.
We will not be having stalls this year but we are welcoming all community groups to bring a picnic blanket down with their flyers, t-shirts, badges and information and we are going to set up a special area where people can find out about all of the great organisations out there. Having a presence at IWD will not cost anything but we would ask that you email us and let us know that you’re coming so that we can make sure the community area is big enough for all of us. F Collective (who is organising IWD) will not be organising a march this year.
Please find attached the Poster 2012 and Blurb 2012 info. Please forward these on to your members and networks.
You can also find us on Facebook under Sydney IWD and the F Collective also have a group on Facebook that you’re welcome to join.
If you would like to assist in organising IWD please feel free to join us at 6pm Monday evenings at Level 1, 87 Myrtle St, Chippendale.
If you want any further information please feel free to get in touch.
The IWD celebrations in Sydney are being organised by the ‘f Collective’. There will be a picnic in First Fleet Park on Saturday 10 March 2012.

About IWD in 2011 from the International Women’s day _ IWD collective
Hope you enjoyed the day.
The IWD Collective and friends marched and rode at the Mardi Gras parade last night. Despite the occasional heavy shower of rain, spirits were high and we danced and shimmied along Oxford Street.
Before the march ..
While some of us rode in peda-pods ….
… BIG changes – not small change
Come, JOIN US – Saturday 12 March at 12 noon at Town Hall. Marching to Martin Place. Lots of stalls and fantastic performers.
2011 is the centenary of International Women’s Day. The first march in 1911 was asking for equal pay for women and improved conditions – and in 2011 the demand is for equal pay. Assemble at Sydney Town Hall at 12 noon on Saturday March 12 and march to Martin Place.
Click here IWD Flyer 2011 to download a copy of the flyer. Please distribute through your networks, or send on the link to this site.
Did you visit our stall at Fair Day in Victoria Park today? We handed out flyers about the march on 12 March and the theme of equal pay – we also had postcards for sale.
The IWD Collective is organising to march in Mardi Gras on 4 March – contact us if you want to join the group.
St. Andrew’s Church (which holds 2/3rds of St. Andrews’s Square next to Town Hall) has told IWD organisers that approval for the use of the grounds will NOT be given next year.
